At 1st Frimley Green & Mytchett, volunteers run every aspect of our group. They generously donate their time to provide fun, adventure, and opportunities for young people to build important life skills. Volunteers create an environment where every child can thrive, learn, and feel welcomed.
Our group relies on two key teams: the Section Leadership Team and the Trustee Board. The Section Leadership Team plans and delivers our youth programme. It is led by a dedicated Group Lead Volunteer, also known as the Group Scout Leader. Each section has its own Section Team Leader who takes charge of local activities. These leaders work with Team Members ( Assistant Section Leaders and Section Assistants). They design engaging activities and ensure that every session is well-organized and safe. Their goal is to help young people gain skills that will serve them for life. They create sessions that challenge and inspire, all while making sure that fun remains at the heart of every activity.
This team focuses on delivering hands-on experiences that encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership. They carefully plan each event to foster a spirit of adventure and community. By offering diverse and exciting programmes, the Section Leadership Team helps young people build confidence and learn new skills. Their efforts ensure that every gathering is a memorable and enriching experience for everyone involved.
In addition, the Trustee Board plays a vital role in supporting our group. Chaired by the Group Chair, the board includes the Group Lead Volunteer, Group Treasurer, and several other Trustees. The Trustee Board governs our group and ensures that we operate safely and legally. They uphold Scout Association policies and provide the strategic direction needed for our growth. Their responsibilities include monitoring performance and managing finances with care. This board works hard to support our volunteers so that the programme can run smoothly and effectively.
Together, these teams form a strong foundation for our group. Their passion and dedication fuel a dynamic atmosphere where young people learn, explore, and grow. Every volunteer and leader is encouraged to take on new challenges, making our group a safe and inspiring space for adventure and personal development
